A simple truth about gaming via any vehicle of doing so is that, sooner or later, players and DM's are going to disagree on how something should be interpreted or run.
In such circumstances, the DM has the final word- please don't argue with them in the middle of a quest if they decide on something you don't happen to agree with.
Rather, talk to them about it after the quest. Talk to them!
No grudge-holding, no spamming it across the forums and then running around like a savage, waving fingers and sobbing for torches- communication is key.
Ultimately, the administrative heads have to make final rulings on permanent rules-changes, but when it's on-the-fly and ad-hoc, the DM's have the final say.
But still, some DM's will value a player who knows some fine details about various things they don't happen to be familiar with, and if we're all supporting eachother, player input on a matter might very well not be something DM's are inclined to ignore.
